By using our notary services, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Your contract is with Shand and Company Legal Limited.
2. We will follow your specific instructions (which you can add in the Instructions to Notary field) regarding which documents/pages are to be notarised and how they should be notarised.
3. It is your duty to advise before notarisation takes place if you have any specific requirements or wording that must be added.
4. If any documents need to be couriered, we can book this service on your behalf.
5. Where we are notarising documents not sent into our office, we will notarise the file you upload. You should ensure it is correct and of sufficiently good quality. We print onto A4 paper.
6. Documents requiring only notarisation are usually dispatched within 1–3 days after you place your order. It can take longer if we need clarification or additional information from you.
7. We do not offer legal advice. Our service is limited to notary and legalisation (certifying and witnessing documents and obtaining UK Hague Apostilles).
8. Liability is restricted to the total amount you have spent with us.
9. UK deliveries usually arrive by 1 PM the following business day after dispatch. While special delivery is typically guaranteed by 1 PM the next day, delays may occasionally occur.
10. Courier delays are beyond our control, and we cannot take responsibility for them.
11. DHL is used for deliveries outside the UK. Most international deliveries take 1–3 days, but some destinations may take longer.
12. Standard Apostilles usually take 4–7 working days to be dispatched. They are always sent out the same day the Apostille is issued by the UK Foreign Office, though courier delays may occur.
13. Electronic Apostilles are sent via email and cannot be printed.
14. Where documents for Apostille are not acceptable to the FCDO and need to be resubmitted, an additional charge will apply.
15. Documents not notarised may be rejected for Apostille.
16. If your document cannot receive an Apostille because it is not eligible, we will not be responsible.
17. We will do our best to advise accordingly, but due to the large number of document types, we cannot provide comprehensive advice on Apostille eligibility.
